There is richness in collaborations when different disciplines meet. What follows are sparks and an environment that bounces ideas and new levels of awareness. Its process requires dedication, time, absorption and reflection. With this in place boundaries open allowing innovation both in new work and the surrounding environment.
Since 1996 Seran has been involved in collaborations with other art forms and since 2001 with scientists.
Science:
Science has always featured in Seran's work, as a questioner of what is it that makes up the world we experience, Seran has collaborated directly with science in order to gather more information and access state-of–the–art technologies.
Astronomy has influenced much of Serans work, her Leverhulme trust award funded a residency programme at Southampton University researching in new directions of Neuroscience and Liquid crystals. As well as gaining valuable information both visual and theoretical, Seran devised a concept for using the science technology to produce innovative work.
Scientific research with Dr Marcus Coles Liquid Crystals-Cambridge
Currently collaborating with scientist Dr Marcus Coles of CambridgeUniversity researching Liquid Crystals to create site specific art installation pieces comprising of sound, digital imagery and 2D work that explore the qualities of Liquid Crystal Technology.
Qubit Arts:
Founded in 1999 by Seran and Keren Ben-Dor an arts innovative education company for collaborations in the visual arts, choreography and music.
‘Oscillations’ 1996 Southern Arts Award - Quay Arts:
A Collaborative project with a musician, writer and dancer/choreographer reinterpreting Seran’s solo exhibition ‘Champagne supernova’s a public performance, (five poems were written).
