‘Colour’ I am addicted to it to its force’s and it’s effect, it’s push and pull, its seduction and its eternal reference to the unknown and known, it’s endless combination of partnerships and possibilities. It haunts me but it soothes me. I try to let it go when I draw in black and white, leave it behind to think, but it is never far from me, it sneaks back in and so again I continue my quest for its endless possibility of combinations to create that one painting or installation that stops your breath.
I have worked closely with science but always need to know more so I allow my instincts to question further and create work that responds to each investigation. I combine complex research, with freedom of thought and intuitive reactions to invoke new thought and possibilities.
I work in a number of ways but the intimacy of studio- based work is the jewel or centre of all other creativity. My Public art has given me another intimacy with people and places and environments allowing new discoveries

Seran Kubisa
Kubisa’s work is an examination of what makes us human and question’s the world we live in.
Through her perception the ordinary and banal become inspirational. The extraordinary is brought close for us to experience.
Past and current work uses her scientific analysis from forensic style investigation of familiar objects to create artwork. Analysing fragments of personal household items, Kubisa identified microscopic patterns locked deep inside everyday things. Kubisa’s investigations and collecting of fragments started in her sitting room.. Turning fragment scientific analyse into art have informed the focus for paintings and public art. Through this process familiar items become magical. Delving into the microscopic pattern, down to a molecule and atomic state, things which one often takes for granted become dynamic, living statements about life and the nature of existence.
Memories are the final link in the chain, from personal, to functional, to molecular, to Neuroscience, the discipline that studies memory and where it is stored and how it is triggered in the brain have inspired. Memory has been explored in her work in Astronomy where memory surfaces through cause and affect, personal memory has been delved into triggered by Neuroscience and memory is present in collected forensic fragments in her forensic investigations. By her use of technology and laser microscopes she has unlocked the door to a myriad of questions that are at the very core of what makes us who we are.
